Help Us Save Glenn Medical Center

Glenn Medical Center is facing an urgent crisis—and we need your help.

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) notified us that our hospital no longer meets the geographic distance requirement for designation as a Critical Access Hospital (CAH).

This decision is based on CMS’s measurement that Colusa Medical Center lies within 35 miles of our facility—despite our repeated appeals and extensive advocacy efforts to demonstrate the flaws in this determination. If this decision stands, Glenn Medical Center will lose its CAH designation and the federal cost-based reimbursement that keeps our hospital financially viable.

What’s at Stake?

Without this critical funding, our emergency department and inpatient services are at serious risk of shutting down as early as next year. This would leave our rural community without access to life-saving care—especially in moments when every minute counts.

Our Commitment Remains

Our outpatient clinics will remain open and unaffected, and we are committed to preserving as many local jobs and services as possible. We anticipate retaining the majority of our current staff through facility reassignment, regional administrative support, and continued outpatient services like Lab, Radiology, and Physical Therapy.

What people are saying about Glenn Medical Center

Slide 1

“Glenn Medical Center Emergency Department is absolutely necessary for this rural community. They have provided emergency care for my family for decades. Colusa ER is the same distance as Enloe Health. Both ERs cannot handle additional patient loads. Please do not cut funding to Glenn Medical Center.”

“I raise my grandson, he is 14 years old. He has ASD, Lupus, and asthma. We cannot afford the time to drive to another city for ER visits. Sometimes between paychecks we don’t have the gas to drive to another city. We beg please to keep the very precious ER open.”

“We live in the rural community of Princeton just over 20 minutes from Glenn Medical Center and have used the emergency room on numerous occasions. We have always received prompt and excellent care there. Like us, many people rely on having emergency healthcare within a reasonable distance from home and losing GMC would be very detrimental to our rural area.”

“We need our ER for our residents and visitors, there is no reason why our town who is already failing should now get our emergency room ripped from us. There are many residents who use it frequently as necessary. This could be a detrimental blow to our community.”
